Faith Like a Child: God is Good

Series: Faith Like a Child

Summary

God's goodness comes from who he is—compassionate, gracious, and slow to anger—standing in contrast to the effects of sin. This encourages us to stay curious, ask deeper questions about his nature, and recognize the blessings that reflect his goodness. Trusting in his character brings comfort and hope in hard times, and a childlike wonder helps us see the beauty of God's goodness in our lives.

References:

  • "That God is good is taught or implied on every page of the Bible. It is a foundation stone for all sound thought about God. The goodness of God is the drive behind all the blessings he daily bestows upon us. God created us because he felt good in his heart, and he redeemed us for the same reason.” - A.W. Tozer
  • "If you took the love of all the best mothers and fathers who have lived in the course of human history, all their goodness, kindness, patience, fidelity, wisdom, tenderness, strength, and love and united all those qualities in a single person, that person’s love would only be a faint shadow of the furious love and mercy in the heart of God the Father addressed to you and me at this moment.” - Brennan Manning, The Furious Longing of God
