The Justice Team Signs Off

by Ash Anderson on August 01, 2024

Thank you for coming, or returning, to Larry’s blog for a read this summer!  The countdown to cooler weather is on, and it’s time to check-in. Did you catch our summer series here by the Justice Team, which included topics, experiences, and resources about policing, racism, those experiencing homelessness and immigration?

If you are interested in reading any of our posts or engaging with any of the resources provided, comment below!  We’d love to hear what you got into.

If you missed any of the posts (or this entire series) I’ll link the posts here. I know my email inbox doesn’t get the same attention during the summer months, so if you’re like me, here’s an easy way to join in and check out the posts that the Justice Team wrote on Larry’s blog this summer:

In reading through the comment sections to these posts, I noticed that someone commented with the verse, from Isaiah 1:17:

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

This verse captured the heart of this series perfectly. Learn to do right. Learning to do right doesn’t come naturally to us, comfortable and busy in our own lives and ways. I think that’s what I found so challenging, in a good way, about the class The Bible, Justice, and Me, and about this blog series. That as God’s people, we are called to learn to walk in his ways. This is so much more than believing the “right” thing, and going about your business. It’s a continual learning and growing in how God’s ways are different than ours, and a continual realigning with him and joining with him in taking up the cause of the vulnerable.

The countdown to cooler weather may be running out, but summer is not over yet so there is still time to engage with the resources in these blogs!  The posts linked above include books, podcasts, shows, or movies you can engage with to aid you in learning.  And again, we invite you to comment below!

Thanks for having us, Waterstone! We are eager to have Larry back with us. May we walk closely with Jesus as we become like him and live for others.
